Description:


Banyan tree, which is called Bot Gach in Bengal is the national tree of India.It is the tropical and subtropical plant and found all over the India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Banyan trees are one of the largest trees in the world and grow up to 20-25 m with branches spreading up to 100 m. It has smooth greyish brown bark. It can penetrate very hard surface like concrete even stones sometimes.The leaves are large,leathery, glossy, green and elliptical. Dimensions of the leaves are 10-20 cm in length and 8-15 cm in breath. The fruits are small, pinkish red in colour, with some external hairs and 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter.This is one of the world’s biggest tree and also covers more area .This tree can supplies massive quantity of oxygen.
