Goji berry fruit plant germination

Goji berry plant is a Himalayan plant which produces antioxidants, proteins, amino acid and essential minerals. It is a perennial plant and it has many medicinal uses in ancient China. Its germination is good in winter. It is used to cure eye, liver and kidney ailments.

SPECIFICATION OF GOJI BERRY

Plant size :60-84" tall, 60-84" wide
Light: Full Sun
Fruit colour: red
Bloom time: Harvest early summer to frost
Soil type: Sandy Soil, Loamy Soil, Clay Soil
Zone: 5 to 8

GERMINATION GUIDE
Most important: Avoid Rainy day or a cloudy weather for sowing the seeds.
You will definitely get nothing, wait for the bright sunny day and clear weather.
 Growing Methods in seedling tray

Goji berry plants can thrive in containers or a garden in the ground. Container plants do not grow as large, but growing several plants can make up for the loss in yield. They are also an ideal option for gardeners with limited growing space.

Container Planting

Soak the seeds with warm (70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit )  water that is from for one to two days.Or
Start by soaking the seeds in water for two to three days. This will increase their rate of germination. Better to place the seeds direct sunlight . Mixed with sand with the commercial potting mix(Vermicompost) or garden soil and sieved with strainer  until it is very fine.Goji berry plants grow well in a mixture of potting soil and organic matter. If the soil does not drain well, add vermiculite or perlite to it. Proper drainage is important for root health. Instead of using fertilizer to add nutrients, frequently add a layer of compost. Organic matter contains all nutrients a goji plant needs.

Because a good growing medium for developing seedlings consists of sand and potting mix. Mix the two together until fine consistency results. The ideal pH range for soil is between 7 and 8. Place the mix in a seedling tray, and bury each seed about 1/4-inch deep. The seeds need full sun and water mist to keep the soil moist.

The ideal soil pH should be between 7 and 8.

Sow the seeds 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep indoors in pots if you live in a colder area. Move the pots outside when the weather begins to warm. If you live in a warmer area, plant them outdoors in the partial sun after the danger of frost has passed.

Sprinkle diluted fungicide water (2gm in 1-litre water) after sowing the seeds. The temperature should be from 64 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray the seedlings with a mist sprayer until two leaves appear. Irrigate them with a sprinkler after that if your seedlings are outside. Do not allow the soil to become soggy.

 Ground Planting

Snip off the main stem just above the third leaf when it appears. This will cause the plant to grow laterally as a bush rather than vertically as a tree. A bushy form will yield more berries than a taller plant.Transplant the seedlings to a container or the ground when they reach about 5 inches in height.Space the goji seedlings about 4 feet apart in the ground. This allows the bush to spread without running into the neighbouring plant. Place the seedling in a hole about the size of the root ball.

Care

Goji berry plants require special care to thrive in containers or in the ground. Gardeners need to know how much sun and water the plants need and what type of soil provides the best growing environment. Pruning is also an important part of goji plant care.
Soil

Water

Need daily water for goji plants during dry or drought conditions. Controlled water when the soil is not dry or is located in a humid climate. Overwatering can damage the root rot for fungal growth. Water in the early morning. Drooping leaves are a sign that the plant is not receiving enough moisture.

USES OF GOJI BERRY

1. Goji berries are a good source of minerals, vitamins (vitamin a, vitamin c, iron, fibre)

2.It is also used for antibacterial and anti-fungal.

3.It increases a lot of energy levels and it is anti- ageing.

4.It is good for cure eyesight problems.

Watermelon seed germination

Watermelon is one of those fruits which takes lots of light, lots of water, lots of nutrients. It is a climbing plant and its leaf is long crinkled by look.

SPECIFICATION OF WATERMELON

Planting depth: 1inches

Planting space: 6 - 8 seeds per hill
Germination days: 7 - 14
Plant type: loamy, fertile and well-drained soil

Sow Outdoors: Surface. Following the last frost. Spacing 4 to 24 inches (10 to 60 cm).

Sow Indoors: Mix seeds in a growing medium, place in a freezer bag, keep moist, then stratify by refrigeration for two to three weeks. Use peat pots. Germination time: one to two weeks in the light. Temperature 75°F (24°C). Transplant outdoors in the last month of spring.

HOW TO GERMINATE WATERMELON SEEDS

Soaking the seeds before planting increases the risks of various fungal diseases, such as anthracnose caused by the Colletotrichum lagenarium fungus. So don't  soak the seeds before germination. We know many types of plant seeds benefit from pre-planting soaking to soften the outer seed coating and hasten germination.we don't do that for watermelon.
Watermelon seeds need warm weather for germinating. It takes approximately three days for a watermelon seed to germinate in 90 degrees Fahrenheit conditions, and approximately 10 days when temperatures are at 70 degrees.

Put the watermelon seeds in peat pots indoors approximately three to four weeks before the last frost date in your region. Once all risks of frost have passed, you can transplant the watermelon seedlings into the ground. These plants are very frost sensitive can quickly kill them to avoid the cold time.

Use a flat tray container about 10 inches by 15 inches (biggest or smaller your choice) 1.5 to 2 inches deep. Make sure you have plenty of holes in it for good water drainage.Take equal quantity of sand, soil and vermicompost. Put the seedling mix you prepared up to almost top leaving about 0.5 inches space. If the seeds are perfect in size then we can put the seeds over it by 1/3. After that cover, the seeds with seedling mix only about 0.5 cm (half a centimetre) .water it by watering can. place the container in a semi shaded place. Sprinkle diluted fungicide water (2gm in 1-litre water) after sowing the seeds. We have to care about putting the seed because seeds will not go deep into the mixture.

Sprinkle diluted fungicide water (2gm in 1-litre water) after sowing the seeds. We have to care about putting the seed because seeds will not go deep into the mixture. For growing the seeds outdoors, try to laying black plastic mulch over the planting site to help absorb the sun's heat and increase soil temperatures during the day, and in turn, speed up watermelon germination.

For the best results with watermelons, use 3 pounds of 5-10-10 fertilizer for every 100 square feet of planting space.

BENEFITS OF WATERMELON: Watermelon is a very common fruit and it has many uses in the market. Its oil, juice, seeds and many things are useful to us.

1. Fatty acid and many essential proteins and minerals are packed with watermelon seeds. It also contain calories, it provides 600 calories around 100gm watermelon seeds.

2.Watermelon is important for low cholesterol and low fat.

3.Watermelon contains Vitamin B which helps to keep a lot of energy.

4.Watermelon also work for antioxidants which helps to protect from kidney stone, cancer and cardiac ailment

Tomato seed germination tips

The first thing to know is that tomatoes come in two types - climbing, correctly known as ‘indeterminate’ tomatoes, these keep growing all through the season.
There are so many varieties that come in so many colours and sizes that you will have as much fun choosing as growing.

HEALTH BENEFITS

1.Eating tomatoes, ketchup, tomato sauce and tomato paste-topped pizza more than two times a week can reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

2. Vitamin A, present in tomatoes, helps to improve your eyesight as well as prevent night-blindness and oracular degeneration.

3. Eating tomatoes daily can keep your digestive system healthy as it prevents both, constipation and diarrhoea. It also prevents jaundice and effectively removes toxins from the body.

4.Rich tomato components fight acne and prevent damage to skin cells.

GERMINATION TIPS

1.Place your containers in a warm location out of direct sunlight.

2.If the temperature is kept consistently and sufficiently warm, your tomato seeds will usually germinate within 5 to 10 days. Best to keep temperature range 70 to 80F (21 to 27C). However, temperatures below 50F (10C) or above 95F (35C) are poor for germination. (Some varieties need more time to germinate.) When seeds start coming up remove the tray from a plastic bag.

3.If you are using a closed plastic bag, the seeds may not need watering at all before they germinate. If the flats (or whatever container you’re using) are open to the air, check them every day. But remember, the seeds should be damp, not swimming.

Step 1

Use a flat seedling tray and its deep will be 5 centimetres. Make sure you have plenty of holes in it for good water drainage.

Step 2

As the seeds are perfect in size then you can put the seeds over it by 1/3 after that cover the seeds with seedling mix only about 1 cm (one centimetre)

Step 3

Take equal quantity of sand, soil and vermicompost. Then mix all the three ingredients into one container.

Step 4

Use dry media (dry it yourself) Sprinkle diluted fungicide water (2gm in 1-litre water) after sowing the seeds.

Step 5

Remove the plastic as soon as the seedlings emerge, and gradually move it into the pot.

Step 9

watering as it is required. place the container in a semi shaded place.

PLANT GUIDE

1.Tomatoes are pretty easy to look after. Make sure you water them well once or twice a week during hot and dry weather and give them a boost of liquid fertilizer every three or four weeks. If you live in an area that gets very dry summers, it is a good idea to mulch around the plants with a thick layer of straw to hold moisture near the roots, but make sure the mulch does not lie against the trunk.

2.Watering the plant. Do not let the water to flood in particular area. Or use the sprayer to spray the water like mist.

Guava seed germination tips

Guavas actually thrive in both humid and dry climates but can survive only a few degrees of frost. The tree will recover from a brief exposure to 29° F but may be completely defoliated. Young trees are particularly sensitive to cold spells. Older trees, killed to the ground, have sent up new shoots which fruited 2 years later. Guavas can take considerable neglect, withstanding temporary water-logging and very high temperatures. They tend to bear fruit better in areas with a definite winter or cooler season.

In diseases, guava plant suffers from rust, which occurs in too warm weather and high humidity.Besides this, anthracite and leaf spot can be a problem too, both of these occurs in wet humid weather and spread through splashed water. By proper irrigation, you can easily prevent this.

HEALTH BENEFIT OF GUAVA

Guava fruit is one of the most common fruits in India. It is quite harder and prolific bearer. It is a rich source of vitamin C, Potassium and Protein. It is also a good source of calcium and phosphorus.

1. Immunity Booster
It’s true. Guavas contain 4 times the vitamin C content present in oranges.
As the guavas  one of the richest sources of vitamin C , it  helps to improve immunity and protects us against common infections and pathogens.
2. Lowers Risk of Cancer
“Lycopene, quercetin, vitamin C and other polyphenols act as potent antioxidants which neutralize free radicals generated in the body, preventing the growth of cancer cells. Guavas have shown to be widely successful in reducing prostate cancer risk and also inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells since it is rich in lycopene”, says different well known Dr.

3. Diabetes-Friendly
Due to the rich fiber  and low glycaemic , guavas prevent the development of diabetes. While the low glycemic index inhibits a sudden spike in sugar levels, the fiber content ensures the sugar levels are well regulated.

SPECIFICATION OF GUAVA

Growth Habit: evergreen
Foliage: short-petioled, 2 - 6 inches long
Fruits: round, 2 - 4 inches long,

LOCATION AND SOIL
Guava loves the sunny and warm exposure. It is a tropical plant but very much adaptable to temperate climates with moderate winter, when grown on the ground.

For growing guava in pots choose a quality potting mix or make your own substrate using equal parts compost, sand, and soil.

FERTILIZING
Guavas are fast growers and heavy feeders and benefit from regular applications of fertilizer. Mature trees may require as much as 1/2 pound actual nitrogen per year. Apply fertilizer monthly, just prior to heavy pruning.

GERMINATION GUIDE

Step 4
Sprinkle diluted fungicide water (2gm in 1-litre water) after sowing the seeds. We have to care about putting the seed because seeds will not go deep into the mixture.

 Step 5
Thereafter spreed the Guava seeds in the mixture. If your seeds are so tiny then you can spread water very lightly and carefully on the seed.Make sure that the water must be mixed with diluted fungicide powder. It is very important to notice to follow that the seeds will not to go very deep inside the mixture by speeding water on the seed if it happens then the fertilization of the seeds become difficult.

Step 6
Cover tightly plastic polythene wrap over the pot to promote soil moisture retention and place it in a dimly lit area of the house. Lift the plastic daily to check that the soil is moist. If not, lightly moisten it with a water-filled spray bottle before replacing the plastic. Expect germination within three to five days.

Step 7
Remove the plastic as soon as the seedlings emerge, and gradually move the pot to a brighter area over a two-week period so that at the end of that time they're acclimated to being in full sunlight.

Step 8
Minimum warm, above 60ºF (15.5ºC), is needed inside the container and it should be placed in the sunny area. After that, the whole thing should be covered with a poly bag and after 21 days later the plastic can be removed.

Step 9

watering can as it is required. place the container in a semi shaded place.  Guava needs a proper sunny area to germinate it.

IMPORTANT WATERING TIPS:

Use a watering can for watering. By moving the water stream constantly waves the can. Do not let the water to flood in particular area. Or use the sprayer to spray the water like mist.

1.Do not sow seeds on Rainy day or in a cloudy weather

2.You will definitely end up with nothing, wait for the bright sunny day and clear weather

3. Please check the forecast before sowing the seeds on the following website :

Dietary fibre – Important to help reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower risk of heart disease, obesity and type 2 diabetes. Also important for proper bowel function.

Vitamin C – Important for growth and repair of all body tissues and keeps teeth and gums healthy. Provides antioxidant defence against infection and disease.

Folate (folic acid) – Helps the body form red blood cells and helps reduce the risk of birth defects.

GERMINATION GUIDE

If you need to grow Blueberries from seed need to start late winter or early spring on a sunny day, but they will germinate any time of the year provided they are given ample light and warmth. Sow the seeds in a flat or tray with  Peat Moss, or the leaves soil.Sprinkle the blueberry seeds evenly on top of the moss. Spread the seeds with your fingers so there are about 10 seeds per square inch. .Make sure the tray is at 3 inches deep for root development. Sprinkle the seed onto the top of the peat moss, and barely cover seeds with a very light ( 1/8-1/4 inch ) sprinkle with peat moss.

Place the planter in the direct sun once the seeds begin to sprout, which takes about one month on average. Continue to keep the moss moist until the sprouts are about 3 inches tall. Once the seeds reach that height, it is safe to plant them in the soil.

Check to make sure the moss is moist every day, and spray with the water bottle to keep the moss moist.

Blueberry seeds are slow germinates, the first seeds will probably start to germinate in about a month, and finish germinating over the next 2-3 months. Leave the new seedlings in the peat moss until they are about 3 inches tall, then transplant into individual pots, being very careful not to damage the tiny root systems. Feed young plants liquid food and  feed monthly and raise them in small pots until they are about 8 inches tall, then transplant into one-gallon pots. Transplant 1-2-year-old seedlings outside in the fall.

Low bush blueberries are resilient in cold weather and are best for USDA plant hardiness zones two through six. This super-hardy variety grows low to the ground between 6 and 18 inches tall. Lowbush berries are small and sweet.

Highbush blueberries do best in warm climates, meaning USDA hardiness zones four through seven. Highbush is the most common type of blueberry and it yields large, dark berries on bushes six to eight feet tall.

Plants will start producing berries when about 2 years old, but will not mature and offer maximum berry yield until they are about seven years old. In order for blueberry plants to produce berries, the soil pH needs to be between 4.5 - 5.2. Soils not within the range of pH acceptability for blueberry plant growth must be prepared before planting. If the pH is too high, the growth of the plant is slowed and the foliage turns yellow. If the pH is too high for an extended period of time, the plants will die. When several plants are to be grown together, more satisfactory results will be obtained if an entire bed is prepared rather than digging holes for individual plants. With the lowest soil pH requirement of all berries, blueberries grow in the same acidic conditions that please other native shrubs such as rhododendron and azaleas. If the pH of the soil is between 5.5 and 7.0 and the texture is sandy to sandy loam, the following method can be used. Mix 4 to 6 inches of acid peat into the top 6 to 8 inches of soil. In addition to acidifying the soil, the peat increases the soil organic matter content. The wood shaving is very acidic and will assist in lowering the pH level of the soil.

SOIL TREATMENT

Soils with a pH greater than 7.0 will require higher rates of acidifying amendments and are not recommended for blueberries. If your soil pH is higher than 7.0 consider planting blueberries in a raised bed or a large container. Planting blueberry plants in a raised bed allow you to instantly achieve the correct soil pH by the amendments that you add.

Blueberries require adequate water, especially the first year that they are planted, to properly establish a good root system. During the growing season, blueberry plants typically require 1" of water per week

Growing Mango Trees From Seed

It is quite easy for growing mangoes from seed is actually. (After removing the slash we have stored the seeds of the mangoes, dry and freeze are thrown out in the garden as mulch, and they all grow...)

Seed selection is the most important step. If you take from any old shop seed it may not grow true to type. You should need to collect "polyembryonic" variety.

That means is that the seed will sprout several identical trees. And those seedling trees will be identical to the parent tree. They are clones.

Ideally can know the parent tree, it's from your nearest area, grows really well and gets a bumper crop every year! If not, oh well. Get seed from a polyembryonic variety and at least you know that the fruit you harvest will taste the same.

The best time to grow mangoes from seed is the beginning of the wet season or rainy season.

Eat a nice mango, remove as much flesh from the seed as possible and then let it dry for a day or two.

To germinate the mango seed you placed in moist place and wait for it to sprout.

You can plant those mango seeds individually. They should take about 20 to 30 days to sprout.

Climbing Strawberry germination

The Alpine Strawberry is the most common type of strawberries grown from seed. Once you try fresh strawberries, you will see growing them at home is worth the effort.Starting strawberries from seed is an inexpensive method and bears fruit in their second year if started in early spring.

COLD GERMINATION
  1. Put seeds into 40° C water for 24 hours.
  2. Put seeds into very wet sands or coco pit then it must be able to retain the moisture and to circulate the oxygen for germination. ( Generally, it takes more than 40 days. )
  3. Move it into the soil after it sprouts.
  4. Germination temperature: 20-25℃
  5. Zone: 5-9
  6. Germination time: 40 days
  7. Growth optimum temperature: 10-25 ℃
  8. Spacing: 20 * 20cm
  9. Rose on soil does not ask for much, just with some humus soil aggregate.

Instructions

Strawberries are hardy perennials, but the plants become less robust after about three years. Start your strawberries from seed, and then propagate by cuttings and runners. Follow along with this handy How to Grow Strawberries from Seeds guide and grow some sweetness....

Timing:

Sow indoors in the winter. An earlier start may result in berries the first year. Start anytime between December and the beginning of February. After that time, they will still work, but you will not harvest berries during the first season. Transplant out at least 3 weeks after the last frost....

Starting:

Germination is the trickiest aspect of growing strawberries. Be patient, and try the tricks below.
Take your strawberry seed packet inside a sealed plastic bag or airtight container and place in your freezer for 3-4 weeks. When you remove the bag or container, do not break the seal until it (and its living contents) have reached room temperature. This may take several hours. Err on the side of caution. Opening the package too quickly may result in water condensing on the cold seeds, and this will reduce your chances of success.
Once the sealed package has “thawed” to room temperature, you’re ready to plant. Sow the seeds on the surface of pre-moistened, sterilized seed starting mix in trays or small containers. Place these on a piece of felt or other thick cloth that has its end sitting in water. The idea is to wick up water from below so that the seedling medium stays constantly and evenly damp until germination.

Keep your seeded trays under bright fluorescent lights at a constant temperature of 18-24°C (65-75°F). Germination may take anywhere from 7 days to 6 weeks. Be patient. Once germination occurs, increase ventilation around your plants to prevent damping off.

After your plant seedlings have their third true leaf, they can be transplanted into their own pots. Be sure to harden your seedlings off carefully and gradually before transplanting outside......

Growing.

Space transplants 60cm (24?) apart in rows 90-120cm (36-48?) apart. Everbearing varieties (such as ours) tend to produce fewer runners and will produce more fruit if the runners are removed. In the first year of growth, it may be preferable to encourage runners, and let them fill in the spaces between transplants with new offspring plants.....

Grow strawberries in a well-drained, sandy loam that has been generously dug with organic matter such as finished compost or well-rotted manure. Dig ¼ cup complete organic fertilizer into the soil beneath each transplant. Keep soil moist, but not soggy. A mulch of straw around plants may help prevent the soil from drying out.....

Companion Planting.... These little plants respond strongly to nearby plants. Couple them with beans, borage, garlic, lettuce, onions, peas, spinach, and thyme. Avoid Brassicas and fennel.....

GROWING DETAILS

1. After buying the strawberry seeds, purify them with SAB for 6-7 hours. Then place them in the freezer for 2 weeks. This will improve the percentage of seeds that will germinate. Freezing stimulates the natural process of the seed going through the winter months and will help jump-start the strawberry seeds when you plant them.

2. Now sift the growing media in order to eliminate the lumps of any hard material present in it. The media can be either coco peat or peat moss.

3. Prepare your seed tray. The growing media should be 1/2 inch deep. Or you can make the bed under shade. After this, thoroughly moisturize the media.

4. Sprinkle the seeds over the damp growing media and add a light dusting of peat moss or coco peat so that it covers the seeds. Lightly sprinkle water over it.

5. Keep the seeds moist by spraying water regularly for 4 consecutive days. Make sure it receives direct sunlight. Take no risks. SUNNY WEATHER IS MANDATORY.

6. The strawberry seeds take approximately 15 days to germinate. Once the strawberry plants have sprouted, wait for the 3rd true leaf to transplant into bigger containers.

7. When the 3rd leaf finally appears, transplant the plants into larger pots. If weather permits, the plants can be planted right outside. Continue to care for the plants, keeping it well drained and moist and providing slightly alkaline soil.

8. If strawberry flowers appear in its first year, pick all flowers off the plant. This will ensure the plant is established well, before producing fruit. After the strawberry plant has gone through its first winter, it will be ready to produce fruit the next summer.

Use a flat tray container about 10 inches by 15 inches (biggest or smaller your choice) 1.5 to 2 inches deep. Make sure you have plenty of holes in it for good water drainage - put the seedling mix you prepared up to almost top leaving about 0.5 inches space- now evenly spread the seeds over it after that cover the seeds with seedling mix only about 0.5 cm (half a centimeter)-water it by watering can- place the container in semi-shaded place.

IMPORTANT WATERING USE: Use watering can for watering. By moving the water stream constantly waves the can. Do not let the water to flood area. Or use sprayer to spray the water like mist
