Area of origin: China, Korea. Introduced in 1796.
Adult Dimensions: Height up to 2m (6,6'), width up to 1.5m (4,9').
Foliage: Deciduous.
Soil Type: All, except too wet.
Hardiness: Hardy to -40°C.
Exposure: Full sun.


Properties and uses:
Rosa Rugosa very beautiful and abundant purple flowers in May and June. The flowers which are highly fragranced are much appreciated by bees. This little vigorous shrub has branches covered in little needles. The red orange fruits like little tomatoes are very attractive.

Availability or time of plantation :

When growing in the garden, roses should be planted between November and February. Roses are available all year round and are sold either as seeds or as cuttings. If you are growing in a pot, they can be planted at any time.

 Care Tips:

Roses need to be fed regularly and the amount of feeding will depend on the kind of soil they are planted in. Pruning is also important and should be done after between mid-February and mid-March during a sustained frost-free period.
