Akanda Flower: Plant description and its Uses






Akanda Flower


Akanda plant is a perennial shrub native to Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines. The plant is growing 2.5 m high with various branches and sub branches. The plant has oval, light green leaves and milky stem. Flowers are white or lavender in color. Flowers consists of pointed five petals and a small beautiful crown, which holds the stamen.

Uses:



In bengali culture it is very usefull in Puja. It is main essential flower for the Puja of Lord Shiva.
Flowers along with jaggery are useful against cough and improving appetite.
A mixture of its latex, turmeric and sesame oil is useful in treating scabies.
Plant works as a powerful cardiac stimulant.
