Patriot Hosta: Plant description and Propagation


                                   Patriot Hosta

Patriot Hosta is a kind of perennial, sun loving hosta, long-time favorite, noted for the dramatic color contrast it lends to the landscape. The mature plant is 10-18" tall and 24-36" wide. Leaves are deep green with a wider white margine. The spade-like foliage is elegant and in a shady spot where it can shine against the greens of other perennials. Flowers are lavender and shoot up from tall scapes in late summer.This is very easy to care and forgiving plant that really brightens the garden.

Propagation:

Choose a warm place with Loamy , Moist/Wet Soil. It can be planted also in pot.
If weather cooperates begin planting as soon as possible.
Most Hosta species can be relatively easily propagated from leaf cuttings. Place the cutting in a warm, bright place until new growth emerges.
When remove the plant from the pot, do not pull on the leaves or stems. Squeeze the pot a little and the roots and soil will slide out.
Water well after planting, and continue to water at least every two weeks, depending on rainfall.
